While Marketing Your Business Isn't Rocket Science
You'll Find That It Serves As A Perfect Analogy
The goal is to get your company launched "into orbit" which means that it has obtained it's own momentum and is generating revenue consistently with only a "maintenance" effort from "ground control".

The Capsule in our analogy represents your idea or offering to the market. It must be clearly defined and hold an obvious position (fill a need/serve a legitimate purpose) in the existing industry your product or service represents.

The Launch Pad represents some history of proven performance including letters of reference. This means you are "grounded" (not like when you were a bad kid) but that you have a substantial basic presence in the business community.

The Rocket Cylinder that houses the fuel represents the program including the process and procedure that you intend to use to market your product or service. This typically functions in two stages:

Stage One Rocket is the Research and Development phase. It is here that the largest numbers of potential customers must be covered and careful analysis must take place to adjust market strategy accordingly. Initial Sales must occur in this phase. This is the stage that creates the initial "lift". It is here also that the need for conventional advertising would present itself. This is the stage of the most concentrated focus and effort. This phase can take anywhere from four months (and very, very rarely any less than four months) to a full year.

Stage Two Rocket is the Closing and Restructuring phase. Follow up on contacts secured during Stage One should result in substantial sales. The actual sales cycle will become evident during this phase. Plans and projections for restructuring the "team" into "ground control maintenance" must take place here. This phase can also take from three months (and again rarely less) to a full year.


The Fuel represents the energy necessary to perform the tasks required to accomplish the initial generation of revenue. This is where you hear the old familiar term "it's a numbers game"... Well, "the numbers game" is only ONE component in the entire process! People who bet their whole life's savings on a numbers game are as likely to succeed as they would be if they purchased a thousand lottery tickets. However, at this point in the process... the numbers are vital. But along with that is timing and chemistry... something only the experts know about. And without these, your risk is the same as standing under an actual launching rocket.


You know you have Lift Off when you are securing consistency in interest. Whether that manifests itself in a given number of appointments per month or product sold per day... this marker is determined prior to the beginning of the operation and is specific to your unique product or service.


One secret is that a product or company "launch" is NOT a one man job! It takes a team.... Rushing out into the market place and tooting your own horn will cost you time, energy, and money to bring you very little in return.
